How we handle personal data collected through this website and through enquiries by WhatsApp or phone.
Whampoa Pain Centre (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy and handles personal data in line with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong. This statement explains what we collect through this website and through enquiries you send us, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
When you browse this website
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the website is used. It uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, how you reached the site, your device and browser type, your approximate location (city level) and which buttons you tap, for example to call or message us. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses, and we do not use this information to identify you.
Our web hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, the page requested and the time) to keep the website secure and running.
When you view the map
Our homepage shows the clinic on a map provided by Google Maps. The map loads by itself as you scroll down to the clinic’s location, and Google may then set its own cookies and receive your IP address.
When you contact us
If you message us on WhatsApp or call us, we receive your name and phone number as shown on your account or phone, and whatever you choose to tell us, which may include details about your health. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing before your visit; we can discuss the rest in person.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange appointments.
- To understand which pages are useful and improve the website.
- To measure, in aggregate, how well our advertising works if we advertise on Google.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal data.
Who else receives it
We use a small number of service providers who process data for us or under their own terms: Google (analytics, maps and advertising measurement), WhatsApp (messaging, part of Meta) and our web hosting provider. Some of them store data outside Hong Kong. Their own privacy policies explain how they handle it: Google and WhatsApp.
How long we keep it
Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our account, which is no longer than 14 months. Enquiry messages are kept for as long as we need them to reply and arrange your care. If you become a patient, your clinical records are kept confidential and retained as our professional and legal obligations require.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
Seeing and correcting your data
Under the Ordinance you may ask to see the personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Please contact us using the details below. We will reply within 40 days, and we may charge a fee that is not excessive for providing a copy.
Security
This website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and we take reasonable steps to protect the personal data we hold from unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
